What Can Massage

Help With?

Your body carries a lot: daily stress, long hours at a desk, repetitive movement, workouts, injuries, and everything in between. Massage therapy can be a valuable part of supporting how your body feels, moves, and recovers.

At Starr Wellness, every session is customized around your body, your goals, and what you need that day. Lindsay uses therapeutic and clinical bodywork techniques to work with areas of tension, movement patterns, and muscular discomfort while creating space for relaxation and recovery.

Neck and Shoulder Tension

Long hours at a desk, repetitive movements, stress, and everyday posture can contribute to tension through the neck and shoulders. Focused massage therapy can help promote relaxation and ease muscular tension in these areas.

Back and Hip Tension

Your back and hips do a lot of work every day. Customized bodywork can focus on areas that feel tight, overworked, or restricted, helping support relaxation and comfortable movement.

Postural Patterns

The way you sit, stand, work, exercise, and move throughout the day can influence how your body feels. Massage therapy can help address areas of muscular tension associated with repetitive or prolonged movement patterns.

Overuse and Repetitive Movement

From workouts and sports to work-related activities and everyday routines, repetitive movement can leave certain areas feeling overworked. Targeted bodywork can help support recovery and relaxation in areas that need extra attention.

Athletic Recovery

Whether you're training regularly or simply staying active, massage can be incorporated into a recovery routine. Sessions can focus on areas of muscular tension and support mobility, relaxation, and overall recovery.

Mobility and Movement

Feeling tight or restricted can affect how you move through your day. Through customized bodywork and assisted stretching, Starr Wellness can help support comfortable movement and mobility.

Stress and Relaxation

Massage isn't only about addressing areas of tension. Sometimes your body simply needs time to slow down. A massage session can provide dedicated time to relax, release built-up tension, and reconnect with your body.

Injury Recovery Support

When you're returning to activity after an injury, massage therapy may be a supportive part of your overall wellness and recovery routine. Starr Wellness focuses on working within the scope of massage therapy and adapting sessions to your current needs.

Post-Surgical Bodywork

Massage may also be incorporated into a post-surgical wellness routine when appropriate and with guidance from your healthcare provider. Sessions are customized based on your individual situation, comfort level, and stage of recovery.

Your body isn't one-size-fits-all. Your massage shouldn't be either.

At Starr Wellness, Lindsay takes the time to understand what you're experiencing before creating a session designed around you. The goal isn't to force your body into a predetermined treatment—it’s to provide thoughtful, personalized bodywork that supports how you want to feel and move.

Lindsay Starr, owner of Starr Wellness, a massage studio in Lexington, KY

Meet Lindsay Starr

Before becoming a massage therapist, Lindsay spent her days working in marketing for a global corporate law firm. While she loved the creative side of the work, she knew she didn't want to spend the rest of her career behind a computer. She wanted to do something more hands-on and purposeful that combined her experience as an everyday athlete, her interest in wellness, and her creative background.

Massage therapy turned out to be the perfect fit, and she hasn't looked back. Lindsay earned her massage therapy education at Lexington Healing Arts Academy and has continued to expand her training through AMTA Sports Massage, Anatomy Trains courses in Structure and Function, Fans of the Hip, and Arches and Legs, as well as Thai on the Table and Manual Lymphatic Drainage. Her continuing education also includes myofascial release techniques, assisted stretching, and table Thai techniques. Lindsay is particularly passionate about working with neck and shoulder tension and helping clients feel better, physically and mentally.

For her, one of the most rewarding parts of massage therapy is seeing someone arrive feeling stressed, uncomfortable, or simply weighed down by life and leave feeling a little lighter. She believes massage therapy is more than a luxury; it can be a meaningful part of someone's overall wellness, while also recognizing that it isn't a cure-all. Her philosophy is simple: every session should include an element of relaxation. Even when focusing on a particularly troublesome area or supporting recovery from an injury, Lindsay wants her clients to have a moment to breathe, relax, and feel cared for. When you're under her care, she wants you to know that she is fully invested in your health and well-being.

Outside of Starr Wellness, Lindsay's story is just as unique. She grew up outside Boston on more than 20 acres of land surrounded by horses, chickens, sheep, and goats. She's been a lifelong cat lover, her first word, after "mama" and "dada," was reportedly "cat", and these days, her two dogs, Miles the beagle and Fenway, a Great Pyrenees mix, keep her busy when she's not working.
